Hi guys,

I'm having an issue whereby a majority of renders are not completing.

What will happen is sometime during a render, the image will freeze and the render will appear to pause. The duration for the render to complete begins to increase indefinitely but the render will not resume. Upon hitting 'Stop', the software will lock up and cannot be used. On attempting to force quit, the entire mac will hang and the GUI, mouse and keyboard are unresponsive. At this point only a hard reset can resume the machine.

I have attached crash logs, there are no particular entries that I can see when the initial render pauses but there is when I force quit Resolve. There is no pattern on particular files, we use ProRes and DPX and H264 and it happens sporadically with all of them.

Our media is all stored on an editshare which is connected via 10G fibre.

I have just gone through the system logs and noticed at the exact time of the render pause, there is the following diagnostic event

GPU Reset

I have attached the log for this too, can anyone help trace why this might have happened?

GPU reset should either be a hardware or driver issue. It happens if you overclock the GPU above what it can do for example. Basically if the GPU stops responding for whatever reason. You may try to limit render speed. Maybe it overheats.

This exact thing happened to me today. On DR 15.2.3. Started DR to generate a bin of clips to Optimized Media. After more than 10 minutes of working (out of approx 35 mins) the whole machine suddenly chrash. Nothing saved. Tried again. Same result.
Took the whole project to Premiere and finished with no problems at all.

DR 15.2.3, MacOS 10.13.6, cMP3,46/48GB RAM, nVidia GTX1080TI 11GB VRAM,

Thanks Peter, I think you're probably right, I've tried reducing render speed and also reducing memory load to see if that helps, good results so far. I imagine this probably points to poor driver operation, the card should be throttled before that I would have thought? Is there a way to adjust that does anyone know?

I have a new machine with the following:

AMD 2700X
Radeon VII
32GB RAM
Window 10 Pro
DaVinci Resolve 15.3.0.008

Same problem as others. When rendering from the Deliver Page it hangs and then shuts down. I have tried MP4, QuickTime, AVI, all with the same result. I tried it with DR 16b4 and had the same problem. I do not have this issue with Premiere Pro CC or Media Composer.

Any ideas?

I have the following setup and the same issues:
Msi Creator trx40 with amd 3960x 64gb g.skill c16 with 2x Radeon VII.
Can´t render with this setup. The driver for the Radeon is crap for Resolve 16. I have sadly given up after 4 driver versions and A RTX 2080 SUPER IS IN THE MAIL.

I am now testing each card (Radeon vi) on a 4hour render. Disabling the non display card.
I am now Way past the Dual card setup 1-2% and closing in on 7 % estimated 3 hours left.
No hardware for decode and encode ensbled af this made it crash in the Dual card setup.
10% no issue. Stopped the render and now going for all hw accel. Enabled.
Estimated 2h 10m 40% lower. Done in 59:18 so really Happy. 4K h.265 59,94 33 min.
Ond card might be faulty or Dual setup has bad driver support.

Now the second Radeon VII passed the full render. So crossfire or Dual card driver issue. I just disable one card no restart needed. I Can live With half speed as long as renders.

I've been having the same issue—resolve hangs up on render. Clicking the stop render button does nothing, and the only way to resolve it is to force quit and begin again. It struggles more with "export as individual clips" then as "single clip."

I'm using a late 2018 MBP, 16gb ram, 2.6ghz corei7, radeon pro 560x 4gb. Never had any issues until the start of February. Have you guys found an actual solution lasting solution and other than temporarily disabling a card?

Was this ever fixed? I had this same issue today on both DR 16 and 17. Is the plan to just let this bug continue forever? I ask as this is pretty much a show stopper. If nothing can be rendered there is no point to using Resolve at all.

I saw one user mention he finished the project in Adobe Premier... I wonder if this is what we are expected to do? Does BMD even read these post? I’m thinking no.
