Remove audio track and leave just video

If I have a standard track in the timeline (video + audio), how can I remove only audio track. I did unlink them but that didn't help. So I would only left with video track on the timeline and all other tracks and positions are untouched?

Can't find it anywhere.

Thank you!

How did unlinking them not help? Once they are unlinked, you can click on the audio clips and delete them, or you can delete the entire track. Unlinking just allows you to delete one clip (either video or audio) without affecting the clip (either video or audio) that was linked to it.

That's the problem. I can delete the audio but not the whole audio track. If I delete the track, the video track gets deleted too. Even when unlinked.

I can't duplicate that problem on my end.

On the video track, try disabling the Auto Select button in the track header (the button that looks like this: <>), and now try deleting the audio track.

I'll try to make a video of the problem tomorrow if nothing works.

I think when you create a Timeline it has to have at least 1 video and 1 audio track, even if they are empty. Even when there is just an empty video and audio track, if you right click on each of them the 'Delete Track" option is grayed out. If you are successfully deleting the audio from the track, why do you feel the need to then delete the track?

Because it's a multicam timeline and it has 8-9 video tracks. And I need just one audio track. Anyway, I'll reply when I get back to the office later today.

You didn't mention this before. The fact that it's multicam may make a difference here.

well, it's a multicam source (where you put multiple videos for later multicam cut). why would it be different??

I don't know, but it's the only variable that could explain why you can't delete the empty audio track without also deleting the video track.

With non-multicam clips you can delete audio tracks without affecting a video track, as long as they are unlinked. So the fact that you can't delete this audio track without also deleting a video track suggests that the problem is related to this being multicam.

Stepping back, if you knew you weren't going to use the camera audio in the timeline, you could have chosen to just add the video to the timeline without the audio; Resolve has a couple of easy ways to do that.

I had the same problem. Coming from Adobe Premiere.
Solution is: Unlink audio and and use BACKSPACE instead of Delete.

Adding *just video* to multicam timeline doesn't work. It ALWAYS add an audio too.

Why is removing the audio from an individual track of a Multicam sequence so important? Just choose a different audio source for your output and it won't matter whether it's there or not.

Because switching angles switches audio track too. And in most multicam tracks there's only 1 main audio channel. So what I do add that audio track to the timeline which is based on the source multicam timeline. This way the audio stays.

Not necessarily. Open the Manual PDF and read the section on "Performing a Multicam Edit", item 4.

It's surely not necessary but it always happens in reality. I just had this problem yesterday. And will probably have it today.

And since you won't read the manual, you will likely struggle with this problem unnecessarily over and over.

Just to be sure - we're talking about v.15, correct?

I was reading the version 16 manual, but this applies to version 15 as well.

ok, you were right. There's the way to choose:

Choose whether you want to switch both the audio and video, just the video, or just audio using Audio/Video selection buttons.

Thanks!

I need to do the same thing recently. I eventually locked the video track and then deleted the audio. Fast and effective :)
