Does Resolve (free) always require an internet connection?

Just trying the latest version (16 Beta) for the first time on my laptop and this didn't seem to be explicitly stated in the FAQs or anywhere, but I found that Resolve will only launch if I am connected to the internet.

At work, I am only able to connect my personal laptop to the guest Wifi, and since it's unsecured, I'd rather not have an internet connection, at all. Am I SOL with this software if I don't wish to keep a live internet connection?

It should not as far as I know, however there is something new in 16 where the software check the net for a new version.

Hmm, how can I solve this? Without an internet connection, the splash screen just hangs until I end up killing it. I've only been in the app a few times, so far, mostly because I can't launch it.

Works fine here without an internet connection. It is unlikely that a pro video house would have their edit and grading suite computers on line. Client programme material security would preclude this.

I have DR on a machine that has never seen the internet.

i think only the studio version is looking for licence without dongle
