A way to freeze (stop) scrolling text?

First, the Title Scroll tool is way cool.
Second, the Forum tells me that I control scroll speed by making the clip longer or shorter.
Also cool.

Now then, is there a way to keep the text from scrolling off the top?

When the last of the text is displayed, I would like to freeze the clip right there.

Is it possible to do that with the Scroll tool?

Should I make an external slide and use an effect to scroll it in?

Or is there some other way?
tia!

I would like an answer to this question too. Once the last credit hits the center I want to freeze it and fade out over 2 or 3 seconds.

That's a bug in Scroll text because the rich text doesn't work for it. :|

I have been doing my credit rolls with Fusion.
Put all your text in as a big wall, gapping and creating columns as you care and then animate it with the transform operator. You can put a really nice ramp to still at the end.

Thanks Roen. I just needed a very simple credit roll of 7 people. As a newbie to Resolve, and with zero experience in Fusion, it is a bit intimidating to go through that learning curve for something that *should* be pretty easy. I found a workaround by creating the title in my old CS 6 version of Premiere Pro, then exporting that clip to be used in Resolve. All it took was to add some ease-out frames and postroll frames in the roll/crawl options and adjust the clip length to get the scroll speed I liked.

I was looking for the answer to this question on the forum and then figured it out myself. Its too obvious .

I took a still from the scroling text where I want it to freeze and pasted the still in the video track above the scrolling text. The text scrolls happily on underneath but the overlaying still creates the illusion of the scroll stopping. Job done.

Slowing gently to a stop?
A sudden hard stop is jarring.

If you have a lengthy scrolling text, you should do the following:
1. in the Text panel, write (or paste) your text.
2. STILL in the Text panel, keyframe the text position so at the beginning of the clip, the text is below the frame and whenever you want put the Y position in the "freeze" position. This is important so that the text is not truncated.
3. If you want your text to fade out, go to the Video panel and there, keyframe the Opacity accordingly.

Keep safe

I haven't used PPro for about 3 years but it was dead easy in that so I don't know why it's a chore in a studio film oriented piece of software like Resolve.

Here's what I just did. It involves converting the scrolling text to a compound clip. It can be done in less time than it takes to read these steps.

1) Create the scrolling text, eg. credits, including the last text you will want to hold on indefinitely.
If you want the previous text to be off frame when that appears, space the lines accordingly.
2) Make a copy of this text "clip" as a precaution. Once you convert this to a compound clip you can't open it for text edits. Park the editable original somewhere on the timeline outside of the zone you'll be rendering.
3) Right click the clip, enable Retime Controls.
4) Move the play head to the instant where the final text is to freeze.
5) Click the 100% dropdown and select Add Speed Point. That puts a demarcation on the clip.
6) Without moving the play head, split the clip at that spot using the razor tool.
7) Right click the portion split off to the right, ie. your "Hold" text. Select "Change Clip Speed"
8) Choose "Freeze Frame" and close.

Preview your handiwork. You should now have the left portion scrolling, the final text rolls into position, then the freeze frame clip seamlessly holds the text in the exact same position. You can drag that segment to suit your desired hold duration. The text won't budge.
If you need to change text, go back to working with the original "Text" clip and start over at Step 2.

Can’t you right click the compound > open in timeline...edit text?
I prefer to do it in Fusion

Damn, Charles! That's definitely the hard way.

A couple of keyframes on a Transform node in Fusion with a Flattened Spline and you're done.
