Desktop_Video_11.1 & Linux Mint

PostMon May 13, 2019 8:29 am

First off, I would like to state that this is my first time on this forum, so if I make any faux pas please bear with me.

I have spent some time searching these forums and others online looking for a solution to my issue and have found only one post that is from 2015 that is even close but well out of date.

I will point out that I am not a complete dunce, even though I am a Linux newbie, still have to use windows (since Win'95), I had total success installing and running Resolve Beta 2 on Linux Mint. My problem is trying to get audio support via my installed Intensity Pro card. My Linux knowledge is not yet sufficient to deal with failed dependencies when I followed the Blackmagic Linux the instructions for installing Desktop Video Linux 11.1

The error that crops up is as follows:
error: Failed dependencies:
dkms is needed by desktopvideo-11.1-a11.x86_64
make is needed by desktopvideo-11.1-a11.x86_64

rtld(GNU_HASH) is needed by desktopvideo-11.1-a11.x86_64

So at present this so a bit beyond me coming from a Windows background. I chose Linux Mint as it was considered to be the easiest distribution to get into and my experience so far has been just that. All my other hardware just worked plug & play so very impressed.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly received.

Being a new user it took a number of days for this post to be ratified by the administrators.
I am happy to say that during that time I solved the problem. As I mentioned, I am a Linux newbie and it was a case of me being an utter moron.

Anyhow, the long and the short of it, I was trying to install Desktop Video for the wrong distro. Once I figured out the correct distro I just ran the .deb file and the install went flawlessly. I now have audio via my Intensity Pro into my amp. Excellent.

Very happy to see Blackmagic have made the whole Linux install experience much easier than a year or two ago.

So, problem solved and sorry for wasting anyone's time. Got there in the end.
