No Audio in Fairlight Past Track 10

PostMon May 20, 2019 11:52 pm

Not sure if this is a bug or not but I'm not getting any sound at all from any of my audio tracks after track 10.

The clips themselves play fine if they are placed in tracks 1-10, but no audio is even registering in the track meters on numbers 11-14.

I have 1 main, with 4 sub buses (Dialogue, Foley, Ambience, and Music) and all are assigned properly. It's a mix of mono and stereo tracks. The problem remains regardless of how I adjust the bus assignments. Running 16 Beta 2 on a Windows 10 machine.

Anyone else encounter this?

Not experiencing the described behaviour here.

Have you experienced this with both betas of version 16 or is it unique to beta 2?
Is version 15.3 behaving as expected?

Hi Derek,

It sounds like a routing problem.

Could you check again, from the Bus Assign dialog, whether tracks after A10 are properly routed via your sub buses and buses?
Could you also check that you are monitoring the correct bus?
If you have any VCAs could you check if any overrides (mutes/solos etc) are in effect?

Posting a link to a sample project file would help check for common issues.

Thanks

I can't say whether it happened in 15 (I've only recently dived into Fairlight and am primarily an editor and colorist) but I can confirm it was an issue in Beta 16 1 as well.

Shrinivas - At first I thought it was a routing issue as well but I have checked twice (all tracks are assigned to the correct subs and the subs are assigned to my main). Also my Foley bus has tracks that sound does come through on (6-10) but one where no sound comes through (track 11).

All the settings for these Foley Sub tracks are identical and the clips I put into it 11 were mono right channels of a clip that has the mono left channel one track above on 10 that plays fine.

No tracks are muted or soloed. I'm not using any controller or other outside hardware. Simply Resolve running on my PC with the audio output routed to my monitoring speakers.

You can also DM me a link to the Project without media and I can have a look in the morning in hopes of reproducing on my system.

I got word from the engineers - it looks like your path settings have changes - specifically your Through and Direct output are switched on. Toggling those off makes the tracks behave as expected.

Thanks, that fixed it! I have absolutely no idea how they got changed in the first place (I haven't touched the Path Settings at all before the fix) but I'm just happy it's working again. :D
