Audio Waveform Partially Showing in Beta 16v3

Wondering has anyone else come across this bug in the beta? The audio waveform for some audio files are not displaying correctly. The first part of the file displays fine and then the remainder is blank, but the audio plays just fine in Resolve in the missing waveform, it's just not displaying correctly in the edit page (timeline and preview "window"). I've attached a screen capture.

I tried recoding the audio into another format in Goldwave and importing, it sometimes fixes the issue and other times it doesn't. Also played with the toggle for the show wave form as well with no luck. I thought it was a bitrate issue but other comparable audio files are fine.

I didn't have this issue with Resolve 15, suggestion? Thanks

hi,
got same problem, randomly.

tried converting the MP3 into WAV, nothing changed, waveform creation stops at the same point.

just update to 16b04, the problem still here.

I just ran into this in Studio 16b4 for Windows. Sample below. Recorded on Zoom F4, Polywave, 24 bit/48 kHz.

Same here. I can't speak to consistency as of yet, but the oddities began in 16B3.

That's if they generate at all.

Issue appears to only be present on the edit page. Maybe the Waveform and Pop/Clicks are related?

Moving back and forth between color and edit seems to change what the waveforms display. Tracks that were incomplete are complete, tracks that were complete are now incomplete. Meanwhile on Fairlight they are all complete.

I'm seeing it on Media and Fairlight as well.

I'm seeing it (actually not seeing the waveform) on Edit, and Fairlight pages -- mainly with the audio channels in the BRAW files. The waveform was shown when I was using Beta 1 but not in Beta 3 or 4 (can't remember about beta 2). The raw files are very large -- 100 GB or larger.

I have the same issue but it updates when the waveform timeline zoom is changed.
The other issue I have observed is the sync of the audio with the timeline bar when playing clips in edit.....the bar is always early vs the waveform - ie the bar is left of the waveform when the audio is heard from the speakers.

Wow! I had to zoom into the frame level for the waveform to show up. Back up one level and it's gone.

Hi guys,

had the same problem (partially missing waveforms) and here is my solution:

0. Edit page:
1. Drag clip with partially missing waveform into timeline
2. Scroll to where waveform is missing but if you hit play (space on your keyboard) you can hear the sound playing
3. Right click in bin on the clip and select 'Relinc selected clips...'
4. Properly relink it by chosing the correct folder on your drive
5. Hit play on edit page (space) and stop it again (space again)
6. Grab the scrollbar on the bottom of your edit page (left click) and start scrolling e.g. left

-> Waveforms should appear on edit page (BUT: they are still missing on preview file in bin)
This is no major issue but in case you don't like that you can solve this too:

Still on edit page:
7. Delete clip from bin -> colour of clip will change to red in timeline
8. Delete clip from timeline

9. Go to Media page:
10. Search clip on your drive (via Davinci Resolve Media Storage interface)
11. Drag it into the bin

-> Waveform is visible in preview and if you drag it in timeline it will show up there too.

Hope this helps!

I put together a simple pdf with screenshots for additional help but can't link it to this post... In case someone knows how to link it I will update my post.

Here is one of the files, but I have lots of other files that are doing it as well including sometimes audio in my video files too.

Wow that totally worked Hoff, thanks! How did you ever figure that out?

This seems to be fixed in Beta 5.

Had the same issue in Bets 16v6. Hoff's solution worked there as well.

I'm having a similar but slightly different issue. Sometimes the waveforms on the audio of braw clips don't show up on the edit page. Sometimes it fixes it to just click to the Fairlight tab and back to the edit tab. Sometimes it fixes it to adjust the volume on the clip and then Ctrl+z.

If neither of those work I just get all the clips on the timeline, save and restart, and when resolve comes back up the waveforms are there.

It seems like a caching issue but I haven't had a chance to really go in depth on figuring it out yet.

I've had the very same issue today with the latest 16.1b3
The waveform started to appear but stopped at 00:01:24
The file is 60gb 2hours long, audio - PCM.
Replacing the file as per the TheHoff's workaround helped after a while, but we need Resolve to be more predictable in this case, because waveforms are essential for editing software.
Also we need to be able to force rebuild the waveform, if something went wrong.
And of course it would be nice to see any WF building progress!

I think we're out of Beta already, and I've just notice I have this exact same issue.
