Another absolutely needed option in Fairlight, is the ability to split multi track audio to separate tracks.

Not sure what you mean as you can turn any multichannel in any other format you want. In every version of resolve ever created. Just set up the audio different in the clips audio properties before yuo trow it on the timeline. For example you can set a 6 channel audio clip to have 2 stereo and 2 mono instead .
Normal workflow for production sound with different mics and other audio in a big multichannel audio file.
Maybe revisit the manual.

Pasting below instructions I posted to another person who asked about this -- you can replace "stereo" and "2" tracks with multi-channel and it works the same way. The best approach is to take care of this step in the beginning before you start adding clips to your timeline.

You'll need to change the clip attributes in the media pool. If you have already put this clip into your timeline, right-click on it and choose Find in Media Pool.

Then in the Media Pool, right click on the clip and choose Clip Attributes.

In Clip Attributes, change the Format to mono and enter "2" in the Tracks field, and then click Add. Then assign one of the embedded channels to one track (e.g. Audio 1) and the other embedded channel to another track (e.g., Audio 2). Click OK.

You'll now have to drag that remapped clip to the timeline to replace the stereo track, but when you do it should create two mono tracks automatically (or add them to two existing tracks if you have those tracks selected).

No, you don't.
Because that isn't even close to resembling what needs to be done.

We don't need slow, workaround clunky methods.

We need real world, non time wasting, fast methods.

I guess regardless of existing option that may or may not be applicable or handy in a given situation, i would not say no to an option to rightclick on any audio in the timeline and auto expand it to any new config you choose. Like changing the track channel allocation but then including an explode option. A bit like with compound disassemble in place.
I guess that is what Mark was referring to as well.

So, we now have 17... Did the request to more easily 'cleave' a multi-channel audio clip into it's individual mono channels make it in to this release, or is it still a case of finding the clip in the media pool and altering the clip attributes, channel by channel? If this 'cleave' command is there I can't see it; I apologise if it is there and I'm not seeing it!

Right click the Audio Track header and select "Convert to Linked Group".

Unlink via Fairlight menu > Link Group.

Dragging a polywav into the media pool and then placing it onto the timeline (to access the individual radio mics within the polywav from location recording), the right click menu has 'Convert To Linked Group' greyed out...

Am I missing a stage?

The "Convert to Linked Group" option is dependent on the Track being configured as either one of the multichannel formats or as Adaptive.

All embedded channels will be expanded across a new set of Timeline Tracks in the embedded channel order.

I'm pretty sure that the only way I can achieve this separation of the individual polywav channels (e.g. to access the range of radio mics used on a drama) is to open a new timeline with the clip and manipulate the attributes.

That's really clumsy and hopelessly inefficient for a busy dialogue ediitor.

It desperately needs the return of the 'cleave' function from Xynergi.
