After saving and restart, timelines with colored clips do not retain clip colors. b3

I'm not seeing this in Studio 16b3 for Windows. My clip colors are retained upon reopening.

this was also happening on beta 1, you can regain them but you have to select the clips in the timeline or the track they are on and clear their colour, but even then you have to have the bin that contains them open at the time. Alternatively you can make some kind of edit, or copy the timeline, but then you won't be able to rename it properly...

I've encountered this on all 3 Betas so far. I'm working on a project with a few timelines and the clip colors are occasionally forgotten on startup. I've tried a few things to fix it but nothing has worked every time.

FYI, This has been fixed on my OS mac 10.14.3 in the latest beta4.
Colors and markers are retained upon exit and restart after save.

cheers

Having same problem on Beta 4 on windows 10. Clip colors are randomly lost, and come back when I open the bin containing the colored clips and switch between timelines, but since the colored clips are in several bins, I have to open each bin, switch timelines, and repeat.

This issue is still happening on Resolve 16 Beta 5 on MacOS. Spent a lot of time color tagging only to lose it all...

until they fix it, try opening the bin containing your clips before opening the timeline, works for me. Not great if you have a ton of bins of course.

This has been happening in my projects for months, it happens on Windows and Mac. It happens randomly, it feels like when it has to buffer a large timeline, it will randmoly drop the clip colours.

Infuriating, I've re-colouring my clips dozens of times, and randomly throughout editing when I switch timelines it just reverts to the default blue.

It only happens on large timelines for me with hundreds of small clips over an hour or two in length.

I've tried clearing clip colours, I've tried having the correct bin open, and I've tried re-starting the project on both operating systems.

Also having the same issue. With larger projects and nested timelines. Even when I switch from one project to another the most recent colour changes are gone. However sometimes they will randomly come back. I use colours to indicate the status of a clip so I change them frequently. I have autosave on but I manually save whenever I make clip colour changes. Doesn't make a difference. Davinci will not remember my colour changes.

Question: I assume that you’re aware that three layer of color per clip is allowed” one for the media page, one for the clip in timeline and one for the track.

The color in the timeline (if assigned) overtake the one in the media pool. And IIRC the one on the track is the default color if none of the other colors is active.

Is it a case of order of operations?

I had no idea. Three colors per clip? What could possibly go wrong?!

Not the case with me. My clip colours in the timeline, regardless of any preceding colour changes, come and go as they please.

Yesterday I had the following effect:
The project contains several timelines with colored clips
- after launching the project the latest used timeline was opend and the clips were colored
- later I switched to another timeline which should have colored clips, but the colors are gone.
- I closed Resolve and reopened it
- the colors came back

All in Edit mode

Load all timelines when opening projects in user settings seems to solve the problem.
