How do I access loudness history?

PostThu Jun 06, 2019 11:41 pm

I saw in the tutorial video for R16 that loudness history can be accessed under the MAIN track in fairlight. Since the main output is not a track by default, how can I turn it on? The tutorial video just says "after you turn it on," so where is the "on" switch lol?
Configuration:
Resolve Studio (Always the Latest)
Windows 11 Pro Workstation
32 Core AMD Ryzen Threadripper 256GB RAM
RTX 4090
RTX 3090
100G NAS
(1) 32" Ultra-Wide Display, (1) 4K 27” Display

First you enable automation (the two nodes with the line through them to the right of the transport).

Then you can enable the bus tracks in the Index panel. That will put them in the timeline. You might have to expand the height of the Main track to show the Loudness option.

In automation mode, your buses will be listed in the Fairlight track index.
Click the eye icon to make it visible and turn on the Loudness Monitoring controls from the track controls.

I have gone through above steps and now I can have loudness history on one of the buses but not the one that I need to monitor.
For unknown reason only this one bus has the option to turn on loudness history.

Ok. Small update. The loudness history seems to be only available for the topmost bus. If you have 2 language versions or sound versions than you are out of luck unless the topmost bus you will create will be a fake one meant for this purpose.

If I am wrong than please someone correct me and tell me how to change bus which is used for loudness history. It is definitely NOT the currently selected bus.

The Loudness Track is currently related to “Bus 1” in Flexi Bus mode or “Main 1” in Fixed Bussing mode.

The Loudness Meter in the Meters panel relates to the Buss currently selected in the Monitoring panel.

The word "currently" gives me hope. Looking forward for the moment it will change in the future. It is a great tool.

I usually have to create at least 2 different versions for audio and it would be great to be able to check all of them for laudness.

I see that the flexibus is a kind of "work in progress" and it is not very "flexi" by now and many things are still hardcoded. Like DyNamics listen and send are hardcoded to a bus with a name "Subchain", Laudness is hardcoded to a bus on the top of the list etc.
