Video - individual frames?

PostSat Jun 15, 2019 5:32 pm

Hi All - Just wondering if it is possible to automatically split an .mp4 into its constituent still frames in Resolve.

Doing it by hand would take forever!

Many thanks.

Hi Gary - Thanks for the message.

Export as an image sequence.

I am in Edit mode. When I click on File I get the drop down menu below. No sign of 'Export as an image sequence' though.

Use delivery panel, render to suitable image sequence format (tiff, exr, etc)
I do stuff.

I would add the clip to a new timeline, then go to the Delivery tab, and export the project with these options:
export.JPG
export.JPG (66.57 KiB) Viewed 818 times

This will create a new TIFF image for each frame in the video. Remember to export into a new folder, because it will generate a lot of images. You can use 'Custom' resolution to match your image resolution to your clip's resolution.

@Gary, Hendrik, Dermot & b.forbort:

Ahh! Guys. Thank you all so much. Doing it as an 'image sequence' is just what I was looking for.

Really appreciate all your helpful comments. :)
