44.1K or 48K

PostWed Jul 10, 2019 12:42 pm

My video clips come as MP4 with 44.1K sample rate.

The sound part of these clips does not appear when imported to DR (15.3.1) and the reason might be that DR is wired to 48K.

So my question is this: Is it possible to change the sample rate expected by DR to 44.1K?

No issues on my systems with MP4 source media with audio at 44.1kHz.
Resolve automatically upsamples source media placed on the Timeline to the Project rate.

Thank you Reynaud,

I'm sure it is designed to work like that. But what I see is that MP4 44.1k displays but no sound. If I have the video converted to MP4 48K all is well with DR.

How do I interpret that?

A fair request, but the messageboard effectively prevents it. I can't even post it somewhere else and then link to it from this message. If there is a way that I eluded me I have a 2mb clip ready :-)

You can put them on dropbox, place a link here with a space in the path so the forum does not see it as a path

So it's not a sample rate problem, it's a DR does not understand it's MP3 problem. What program (and version) did you use to create the file?
libavformat 57.83.100 is ffmpeg 3.4 from october 11 2017(1), so whatever program it is, it's old.
The mp3 format is "mp3float"
I think the issue is somewhere in the audio specification, because ffmpeg (current git) says it's "Audio: mp3 (mp4a / 0x6134706D)", which resolve sees as AAC.

As confirmation I recorded a 48KHz and 44.1KHz mp3 and resolve plays both fine (as mp3 files).

May I ask why you would record in MP3? MP3 in MP4 is not well supported (2)

Thank you for doing this. I'm just setting out to do instructional videos and have found several "10 best screen recorders" style lists with "Icecream Screen Recorder" near the top.

This tool (latest version) leaves no options specifying sound formats. It is fixed to that what you see.

I will look for another recorder (OBS probably first)

Thank you again.
