Resolve on MacBook Pro

PostSat Jun 29, 2013 1:55 pm

Hi!!! I was wondering if you guys can let Resolve work on a 2011 Macbook Pro 13"? Because on my mac..I can't... I was hoping Black magic will let us (MBP 13" user) run resolve... I'm very very very sad when I was informed it cannot be used without OpenCL GPU or at mid-res screens

It will never work on the 13" MBP.

Resolve uses GPU Cores to process colour adjustments to frames of video. This requires a fair bit of processing power and GPU RAM.

The 13" MBP has a GPU that does not have enough power nor does GPU have access to fast GPU RAM. The HD400 GPU in the 13" MBP shares RAM with the system that is much slower than RAM in a dedicated GPU.

Resolve struggles on a 15" MBP with anything more than the most basic work and that machine has a GPU that is way more powerful.

The other issue is your screen size. The Resolve GUI needs at least 1920x1080.
