Unplug all USB devices, except for a WIRED keyboard and mouse.

If you have any BlueTooth peripherals connected, disconnect those as well.

Does that help?

Did you try unplugging the network cable or tuning off wifi.

This has worked for me for 10 days

Hey,

New user here, I've had DR for a few months, no issues whatsoever and then i started not working for some reason. Tried a lot of debugging methods listed here.

The cooperate was HyperV as many mentioned.

Also to help the developers I want to include one extra piece of info. When DR is stuck at the fairlight page thingy, using netstat i can see this:

dr1.png
dr1.png (9.43 KiB) Viewed 62501 times

And it's basically stuck in SYN_SENT, which means there's an issue on a tcp connection with a local server that DR starts up, eg: there's no response

Having no HyperV, everything works as expected:

Code: Select all
PS [8:52:32PM] C:\Users\uther# netstat -n -o -a -t | Select-String ':1144'

  TCP    0.0.0.0:1144           0.0.0.0:0              LISTENING       17800    InHost
  TCP    127.0.0.1:1144         127.0.0.1:15618        ESTABLISHED     17800    InHost
  TCP    127.0.0.1:15618        127.0.0.1:1144         ESTABLISHED     7388     InHost
  TCP    127.0.0.1:15619        127.0.0.1:1144         TIME_WAIT       0        InHost
  TCP    127.0.0.1:15620        127.0.0.1:1144         TIME_WAIT       0        InHost
  TCP    127.0.0.1:15621        127.0.0.1:1144         TIME_WAIT       0        InHost
  TCP    127.0.0.1:15622        127.0.0.1:1144         TIME_WAIT       0        InHost
  UDP    0.0.0.0:1144           *:*                                    17800

Thanks, and hopefully we can solve this issue with the weird HyperV interaction.

I also see this in CCleaner in the registry scanner - notice the 3 "invalid firewall rules". Any thoughts? Does this help?

I’m using Mac Pro(Mid 2010), macOS High Sierra (10.13.6), and I can’t update to Catalina because of the graphics card(ATI Radeon HD 5770). I don’t know why, DaVinci Resolve Studio 16 could not use lately. It always stuck on “LOADING FAIRLIGHT PAGE”.

I’m using Studio App Store version. Any support here would be greatly appreciated.

@Yung Sheng: Minimum OS required for Resolve 16 is Mojave.

So while High Sierra seems to be working for many up to now, there's nothing we can do if it's stopped working for you.

Using a very old GPU is probably not helping, but we can't be sure that's the direct cause of your issue or not.

I'd suggest you update to Mojave and see if that helps.

Hello
I had a same issue too.
My laptop always stuck in the topic page, and show loading fairlight page.

My laptop have two graphics cards, one is Intel UHD Graphics 630, other one is Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050.
If I activate these two cards, it will see the topic page and stuck.
But if I deactivate the Intel graphics card, it will show nothing, even the topic page.

Please see my log file.

Thank you!

For me this error started happening after installing the Windows 10 2004 update, and was fixed after installing kb4571744.

A few other observations:
  • I do have Hyper-V enabled. I did not try disabling it as I actively use Hyper-V related features.
  • Updating to the latest Nvidia drivers did not help.
  • Disabling firewall did not help.
  • This did not help.

Hello everybody,

I have a similar problem. It appeared out of the blue. I haven't touched the machine, haven't changed anything, not hardware nor software. It worked perfectly for years... until today. I have read through all the related posts, but it seems to me that the solution is unknown, and the bug appears randomly for the most varied reasons.

I have tried the following:
- removed, cleaned up and reinstalled
- removed panels and keyboards (which I don't have)
- detached any USB device
- removed all network mounted disks (besides one that I absolutely need)

I have a DVR project I've been working on for over a year... losing it would put me into huge troubles.

My DVR stays stuck for ever on the "loading project preferences" screen.

See attached my system profiles and logs.

Hardware profile: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aZV ... sp=sharing
Windows System NFO: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KEz_Tw ... sp=sharing

Thanks for your support!

I just encountered the same problem on a new Windows computer. Resolve was loading just fine at first, but after a few days it started to hang on Fairlight loading page.

My solution was to stop the Gaming services (2 instances) from Services and it immediately fixed the problem. Hope this helps someone.

@Paolo: You are running Windows 10 Pro N.

N versions definitely don't work with Resolve, unless you've installed the Microsoft Media Pack for Windows N. But since Resolve has been running, I'll assume you've done that.

Looks like the last time Resolve was working, was August 8, using this project: 20200515_The_Boys 2

And it was getting tons of GPU memory errors, likely because you were doing something beyond what the K2000's 2GB of VRAM supports (not much).

On August 14, Resolve was running and had this project loaded: 3sources 1080, but it didn't do a clean exit, so generated a crash log.

Then you've tried launching Resolve 4 times on September 6. With no success.

What I see in the NFO is that for sure SOMETHING has been done to the system, because there are Windows .NET files that have 8/30/2020 date stamps.

So probably a Windows update, or perhaps you recently installed something with .NET components.

One unusual thing I see on your system is the Brave browser. Have you been using that, or was it recently installed?

Try the following:

Take the system off the network and disable the firewall. Does that help?

If not, open a PowerShell in "Run as Administrator" mode and enter the following:

netsh int ipv4 set dynamicportrange protocol=tcp startport=49152 numberofports=16384

Run that. Did that help? If not, in the same PowerShell window, enter the following:

Get-NetTCPConnection | Where-Object { $_.State -eq "Listen" -and $_.LocalPort -eq 1144 } | ForEach-Object { (get-process -id $_.OwningProcess).Description }

Does it return any apps? Anything other than FusionScript services may be an issue.

Hi Dwaine,

thanks for going through the issue in such details.

Taking the machine off the network and switching the firewall off apparently fixed the issue. Now DVR starts normally.

Thanks.

We don't support Windows 8.

But the issue is probably your AMD HD 7570 GPU. It could be that a different AMD driver would work better.

First time post. I wanted to share my resolution to this recent issue.

I have been using DR 15 for a while now without any issues. I dont use it on a daily basis so when I went to launch it yesterday, I had it freeze up on the Fairlight portion in the splash screen. I ran through this thread and there seems to be quite a few options on how to fix it.

Below are the steps I took and it fixed my issue. I updated to DR 16, added it to the list and it is back up and running today without any issues. I will update post if I hit any snags.

My steps:
    1. Reviewed LOG - C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\logs\LogArchive - opened latest LOG file.
    2. Found a connection error - "socket failed to connect to server, error: 10061"
    3. Read through forums and found several people having connection issues possibly due to Windows Firewall issue.
    4. Opened up Windows Defender Firewall under the Control Panel
    5. Selected "Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall" on top left
    6. Select "Change Settings" at the top of the apps list
NOTE: I saw that DaVinci Resolve was already in the list but for some reason, it was not working. I made sure Public and Private were selected but it still didnt work. I ended up re-adding it back in.
    7. Select "Allow another app..." at the bottom right window
    8. Find your DR - (Resolve.exe) and add it back to the list - select the correct network as well - I chose both Public and Private.

Hi, I used DR16 last Monday, and apart from the usual crashes (I've learned to live with them), I go to open it today, and suddenly, I'm getting this Fairlight issue again, Now seeing as it was working fine, and now it's not, it's not anything I've done..

There seems to have been a couple windows updates to Windows on the 14th (Last day I used it), and I cannot say if they happened before or after:

  • September 8, 2020-KB4576478 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10 Version 2004
  • September 8, 2020—KB4571756 (OS Build 19041.508)

Also, I already did the Firewall stuff, and as I stated it was working.

The only other update I got, was an nVidea Graphics Card Driver Update: Version 456.38, which released 17/9/2020, I got it 19th Morning

Here's my logs, hopefully you can access them, and they can shed some light on this extremely annoying issue..

LINK: DR Logs via Dropbox
__________
UPDATE:

So, today I tried it after starting the PC, and it worked again, then told me of an update.. This is such an annoying bug, to just randomly happen, same as the crashes I guess..

I've got the same issue some minutes ago.

The only change I made was to attach a USB MIC, which I don't intend to unplug, for obvious reasons.
I'm on Win 10 Pro x64 fully updated and I am not able to post logs because txt is not accepted by the attachment tool and it looks like I cannot post URLs.

EDIT: restarting Windows seems to have it fixed for me, but it also asked me to update DR and it downloaded a file with the same name of the previous update (which I still had on my drive)... Non sure if it was the same version.

You probably had/have 16.2.7.008 installed. It probably downloaded 16.2.7.010. You definitely want to install the newer version if you have an NVIDIA GPU.

Some USB devices are known to prevent Resolve from starting. Your mic might be such an item. It seems that generally, if you have such a device, you can unplug it so Resolve will start, then plug it back in with no ill effects (until the next Resolve start).

As a further datapoint, the crash on loading Fairlight happend today to me, on version 15. Restarting the computer did nothing to change the problem. But the problem did disappear (for now, let's hope it's permanent) when I allowed DavinciResolveBmdPaneId and a few other Davinci apps in the Firwall. Not sure if this was the actual fix, as the program had been running for a long time with no issues, and with those apps blocked in the Firewall.

Has anyone solved this issue yet?

DR16 Studio on my Windows 10 system hangs up with it saying "LOADING FAIRLIGHT PAGE". I have the latest version installed.

This is obviously a big issue if I'm getting the same problem as others have and its been many months and updates later.

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

Beginning of this week - I launch DVR, start a pending export a few minutes later - when I come back win10 is frozen completely (but export successful) - hard reset & reboot - Launch DVR again - this time I am stuck on the splash screen before Fairlight page with a Win 10 notification pop-up saying - "Resolve.exe was denied access to the graphics subsystem" or something to that effect - multiple launch retries - reboot - same error - Did a clean reinstall Nvidia Studio drivers - reboot - stuck on loading Fairlight page - reboot - stuck on loading Fairlight page - shutdown - restart - now it works again!

While the issue started with possible graphics driver corruption, I am really wondering why the stuck-on-Fairlight problem is so dynamic?? One would imagine that during installation all the right settings are applied to Win10 and they should stay consistent. But it comes and goes randomly - leaving users frustrated.

Perhaps BMD should open a conversation with MSFT developers directly to get to the bottom of this Windows behavior?

So.. Saturday I record 6 video's ready for YouTube, open Resolve 'Fairlight Loading Page' BUG.. Great, can't edit anything for the whole day..

Sunday, Resolve works! Amazing.. I get the 6 video's edited & up on YouTube..

Monday I record 6 more video's.. Open Resolve.. Crash to desktop 3 times, on the 1st 11min video.. Now Resolve is broken, when I start it, and load the project.. Play it back, and resolve is just constantly freezing every 1 sec.. so it's like a stutter, making it completely unusable..

Tuesday (today) (I still have at least 2 edits into 1 video by Thursday) AND I wanted to record some other things, which were for TODAY (Tuesday).. Resolve, won't open, because of the can ya guess?.. Bet you can...

If you guessed 'Fairlight Loading Page' BUG, then you'd be correct!..

(- ADDED: Oh, and I don't have time to do this Wed/Thur & Fri, as these days I livestream.. So not rly an option..)

So.. Thought I'd upgrade to the DR17PB.. Ohhh, a new resolve.. With new features, fixes... Great..

Installed, open it up.. you're gonna laugh... 'Fairlight Loading Page' BUG... ffs

Now I have the latest GFX drivers, 457.30 (updated while I was writing this!), I have open ALL the rules for EVERYTHING to do with Resolve in the windows firewall, it's the ONLY firewall I have, I have Windows 10 home, so can't turn off the thing that Pro users can (HyperV).. I've uninstalled & re-installed 3 times, and now upgraded to the 'new' version...

I've done everything I can do, and this bug still persist to ruin my day.. Apart from unplugging all USB things, which I should'nt have to do, I don't have to do that for ANY other piece of software, so it's not really an excuse..

I've also uploaded my logs, and got no response..

Are you saying it does work if you unplug USB devices, or you haven't tried that yet?

Because it appears that it might be hanging in the area that can be caused by certain USB devices.

If you haven't tried unplugging all USB devices except a wired keyboard and mouse, can you try that, so we can eliminate that possibility if that's not the issue?

Is that because DVR is searching for some BMD hardware like panels/keyboards etc and stuck there?

Hi, I found the solution for this.
Just disable the Game Mode on Windows 10.

Go to Settings > Gaming > Game Mode.
And turn it off.

Hey guys- I had the same problem this morning. But it seems to be FIXED.

Background:
DR 16.2.7.010, stuck on the Fairlight loading page. Re-started computer, closed all other programs- same thing.

I'm working on Windows 7, and decided to pull out my internet connection(s) - I have 2 LAN connections, and WIFI was turned off already. As soon as I tried re-starting the program, I got the Win firewall message asking to allow access on Public networks for "DPDecoder.exe". So I UNCHECKED 'Public' networks (Private was already Checked), and clicked on "Allow..".

This repeated about 5 or 6 times, and I did the same thing- even though at the moment, I had no internet. Resolve came up with no problem. I plugged back my internet, and completed some work that I had to do. Afterwards, I decided to see if it was a fluke, so i exited DR, and re-started it (with the internet connected). This time it seemed to load slower and was getting stuck on another screen. So I unplugged my internet, and it finished loading!

So I went into Preferences, General, and UNCHECKED the boxes that say "Automatically check for updates ", and "Send report when application quits unexpectedly"-- basically, that whole area looking to 'Automatically' do something is UNchecked.

Problem seems to be solved!! I'll restart the computer and see if anything changes- if so, I'll re-post here.

Anyway, it's something to try for you guys that are still having the problem!!
Cheers, Tony
Tried loading again WITH internet, and it started with NO problem!

Hello,

i am writing today because i have the same problems as many before.

At Fairlight the loading of Davinci is stalled.

I have read through the whole thread. Tried many things like removing all USB devices and/or adjusting the Fierwall.

Meanwhile I changed from the 16er to the 17er version, paid a little over 300 Euro for the studio version.

This annoys me a lot, because I slowly think the program is rubbish. When I go through the eternally long thread here, I don't think Blackmagic cares about the problems of the users, because otherwise they would have solved the problem long ago.

For me this is very disappointing, because I was very excited about the possibilities the program offers, but if you have to fear that the software won't start every time, it's a waste of life time for rubbish!

As I said, I have tried many of the solutions offered here and believe me, I am an experienced user, I know what works and what doesn't, but this doesn't work at all. And do not tell me to sent any log files. This has been done countless times before without any success.

How long does Blackmagic want to watch here, how many years until something happens?

We would like to help Karl but we need info to do that. The FAQs provide details on what you can provide inc system info and logs.
Will millions of users its likely the issues you have are system or its config.

That's just what I needed, to be referred to the FAQ's.

Finally do your homework and fix the program. Read this thread and fix the program instead of making cheap excuses and using logfile requests to distract from the problem. You had enough time!

WORKING SOLUTION!!!

Guys, it started working with Version 17 (beta) on my PC. Even with Hyper-V.
But my laptop still has the same issue with the Fairlight page.
I just left my laptop for 5-10 minutes, with that page with a stuck state (to take care of my newborn :D)
When I get back, Davinci was open and running!!!
Give it time, keep it starting even if it shows that the program is not responding.
You will get it running in about 4 minutes.

p.s.
Watch the video which I created for you:

It's not the best solution, but at least you will be able to start using it, even with a delay on start.
Good luck!

Karl, you are referred to the FAQs because in there it tells you how to capture and post logs that the Devs can read.
You haven't even given any details of your system. Instead of it being rubbish software, maybe your system is.

Hi All,

Just wanted to share something that worked for me after ALL the above failed.

In Add/Remove programs I uninstalled these two :

Davinci Resolve panels
Davinci Resolve keyboards

They were both perhaps left over from an old version(?) since they said 2019. Might be needed for those WITH panels, but for me after uninstalling these Resolve started working straight away.

Good luck!

@Charles Bennett

I have been installing Windows since the early 1990s and Linux systems since the early 2000s. I have installed Linux and Windows servers that have been running since (Postfix mail servers) many many years without any problems.

Therefore I do not need any tutoring from you or Blackmagic in their installation.

The fact that Resolve has problems can be seen in this and many other threads and it is more than obvious to someone who can add up 1 + 1 that the problem has been occurring on different systems over the years so there are many versions with different operating systems and versions.

I suppose the problem occurs to me again and again when any USB device is connected that has to do with the dongle of the purchased version, but this problem with USB devices has already been mentioned here several times without Blackmagic changing anything.

I have resolved the many frequent recurrences in the past doing exactly this a year back. For me at least - The problem frequency dropped by 90% with this. Yet I did experience the same problem again once or twice in the recent past although a shutdown and restart (not reboot) fixed it mysteriously. So there appears to be more to it than just that. Definitely something to try if you have these modules installed.

Today DR was stuck again loading Fairlight, but I was able to fix it because I knew exactly what could be interfering and that is NDI OBS Plugin*, which I installed just yesterday.

After uninstalling NDI, DR launched just fine as usual... Just wanted to let you guys know, I'm not in need of assistance.

This problem just won't go away!

I had a few months where it was mostly gone but the last few days I have to start DR 3 and 4 times to get a successful startup.

My question to Dwaine or someone at BMD ,is it okay to uninstall from the control panel, Davinci Resolve Panels and Davinci Resolve Keyboards?

I mean if you don't have these products, why is it necessary to install them in the first place?

I say necessary because the DR exe installation file checks those 2 boxes as a mandatory install.

Thanks,

Erik

I have gone one step further as in:

viewtopic.php?f=21&t=95891&start=200#p698440

described.

I have deleted everything from Blackmagic, in particular everything that has to do with Fairlight*, with the exception of DR itself.

As it looks, the programme starts (better than ever) and still works.
