Another story of Fusion crashing

PostFri Aug 02, 2019 8:11 pm

Hello everyone !

So as you may have read in the title, I can't get Fusion to launch. In fact, Resolve crashes whenever I click on the Fusion button.

I'm using DaVinci Resolve (free version) 15.3.1.003

I tried various solutions I found here and there, none of them working for me (reducing memory usage and cache, updating CPU drivers, updating to DVResolve 16 (which actually made it worse)).

My specs aren't that impressive (detail in my signature), but it's not like I overdo it, I think... And I can't use Fusion like AT ALL

Here is what I found in the crash_archive.txt file... I don't understand a single thing actually, sorry if I sound dumb or if it is not the file you need

Does somebody understand the problem I'm having ?

Thank you for answering, sorry for the dumb questions and for the bad English :]

8GB of RAM could be your problem. Resolve itself will run (just) in 8GB of RAM but when you hit the Fusion tab the program is going to ask for a lot more than that -- and (probably) there's your problem. You don't mention a graphics card either and if you're using the onboard graphics that won't be helping one bit -- because part of your 8GB will be sequestered by that onboard graphics so you'll have even less available to the program.

I had no problem running Studio on 8GB, including the Fusion tab.

I'm skeptical that's the cause here.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I bet things will improve a lot with 64GB of RAM, much faster CPUs, and heavier-duty GPUs. I wouldn't even advise using 8GB of RAM with Resolve 11 or 12, let alone 16.

Fusion barely runs in 16 GB, it got much more reliable for me with 32.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.
