OpenFX very slow in resolve 16

I use ignitePro Fx and their effects are very slow when applied to clips in resolve (I mean extremely slow as in unusable). But when I apply the effect to a fusion clip instead, It works well. So I'm wondering if each app has a different engine for handling OpenFX? Either way resolve is not handling OpenFX well on its own.
