Using text TXT files to bring in Title, Production dates?

PostSat Aug 03, 2019 8:37 pm

Hello All

I am not sure how to even ask this...
    1) Can a txt file that contains information such as titles, producer, dates etc be used to populate "fields" in DR 15? OR -->
    2) Can I setup "Fields" that are master text holders... like a cell in EXCEL that can be referenced many times and manipulated. So each reference can have different font size, position, alignment and other attributes?
Thank you!
Marc

If you are talking a spreadsheet to populate the text generator , it's a no.

But if you mean populate the metadata fields with spreadsheet logging it's a yes.

Simply setup the fields you need to import your clips.

Setup the fields you want to log

Export this as a .csv file and begin to log.

The other scenario is to use the data burn in fields. All the metadata fields can be displayed here and more stuff in Custom text 1, 2 and 3 is accessible by typing the % symbol in the field an choosing from the drop down list.
My favorite in DR 16 is the timeline name, Great for different versions.

Hmmmm!
So... if I set up a metadata field (Title for example) inside of DR for a title "Main Movie Title" I can refer to it in a "text box" in the intro and the ending so that it displays "Main Movie Title?" I have to look up data burn in fields.
Thank you!

Interesting, as metadata usage is quite difficult to follow in the user manual. I tried importing a csv file and could not get it working until discovering this in the user manual: You must first turn on “Assist using Reel Names” in the General Options of the Project Settings. I had to read a lot of the manual to really get my head around it!

Maybe a metadata usage document might help those with less knowledge of metadata workflows. The user manual assumes an understanding of this topic.

Thank you all for the responses. I am currently using the latest version of 15 as I do not want to encounter issues with a 16 installation. I will test out the metadata on monday for sure!

I am new to DR (Prem Pro user) and still in a steep learning curve. :D
(FYI switching due to using BRAW on P4k camera and liking the color controls etc)
Thank you!
