Windows 10 - 16 Studio dies on looking for control surfaces

But the new release 16 studio just goes to sleep when looking for control surfaces - now it normally takes a long time on this machine but on the release version it is way too long and windows 10 complains. I have gone back to the beta 7 which runs flawlessly. 16.1 studio also works so I am at a loss for ideas.
The Machine has 16Gb Ram AMD Processor and a Radion Graphics cards - all the software is happy with all the hardware in every other version - except the new release 16 studio.
I am wondering if buying a control surface ( on my list) would help this.
