Text Aliasing

I have never managed to solve the text aliasing issue in Resolve, not even when using Fusion. If I zoom right in in Fusion you can see it is anti-aliased:

But when the exact same thing is viewed in the timeline at similar zoom it is aliasing:

I have read a few posts about things to try, and tried changing my Color Science, but none of them make a difference, so stuck with DaVinci YRGB.

Tried different timeline resolutions and all have the same issue.

Any other ideas on how to resolve this, as I have had to revert to using After Effects, which results in a lot of round tripping so would like to avoid if possible!

Is that zoom in edit page or color page?

And the obvious question: do you see the aliasing in exports, or just in the GUI viewer?

Also, which version. Haven't gone into it closely, but I believe there were improvements in 16.

Sorry, yes, should have mentioned that. Yes on 16 final release (but had it in most previous versions all the way back to 12). And yes it is in the export as well. I also see it on my monitor driven from DeckLink card, at the correct resolution of the timeline (4K in this instance). Can see it in HD timelines as well.

Are you zooming the text or changing the font size?
Which font? Size, etc.
Maybe a photo of the settings
Which OS?

I am changing the font size to 0.08.

That font was HelveticaNeueCyr, but it does it with all fonts. Here is the edit timeline with Arial:

Have you checked your Optimized Media settings? And whether the Deliver page might be using it instead of the original media?

Hello, Dave,

in the Project Settingsâ–¸Master Settings: Timeline Format check that you do not have Enable Video Fields Processing option checked.

Additionally in the Project Settingsâ–¸Master Settings: Video Monitoring: Monitor Scaling choose a Bilinear a selection. This will improve rendering of the images if the viewer's scale is anything other than 100%.

Hi Dmitry,

Thanks for your reply. Enable Video Fields Processing was enabled. After disabling it, it appears to be working fine now, as you can see below!

Bilinear was already selected, so it wasn't that.

Hopefully this will help anyone else who has the same problem.

I solved the very same issue (btw it also occured on imported graphics with Alpha Channel) by adjusting the output settings on the Delivery Page.

my format was H264 and I disabled/unchecked the "bypass re-encoding ..." setting and also checked "Force debayer to highest quality".

I hope that solves your problem too --- was going crazy over that.
