Time Code: Where can I enter it?

Hi,

I have a long list with TC ins/outs and I do not want to scrub through the entire timeline all day long.
Is there a way to enter TC numbers and jump right to the spot?

Thanks.

Jeff

Values may be entered by simply typing the Timecode number.

e.g. typing "01001600" will jump the Playhead to 01:00:16:00 on either the Edit or Fairlight pages.
typing "+1" will jump the Playhead forward by a single frame.

On the Edit page, Timecode values may also be pasted in to Viewer Timecode fields.

Hello Reynaud,

Thank you very much for the hints. I haven't found it in the manual.
Your tipp worked.

But it is actually really hidden. I expected the value to be entered on the left in the time line,
not displayed while typing on the upper right in the monitor.

Sometimes what we don't expect is explained in the manual.

I had searched for it and got over 200 hits for "Time Code". So not helpful.

The timecode manual entry convention is pretty good. You can enter frames or you can enter SMPTE timecode and Resolve tends to figure out correctly which one you intended. You can also use dots as a "00" substitute. For example:
Code: Select all
0130..

is equivalent to typing in:
Code: Select all
01300000

Can't get it to work, using v17.
I am in Edit, the program monitor is selected (name of timeline is colored red above the program picture), I enter 01140100 and hit ENTER... Nothing happens.

Some setting I should change?

If you're using v17, you now type an = sign before the timecode. (Corresponding to the + or - you type before relative timecode.)

None of these are working for me using OS X

Possibly a localization issue? What keyboard settings are you using? There have been issues with non-English keyboards in the past if memory serves.

Pål,

Do the menu entries for
• Playback > Go To > Timecode
• Playback > Timecode > Increment Timecode
• Playback > Timecode > Decrement Timecode
show the correct shortcuts (= + and - respectively)?

If you're not using a custom keyboard configuration, you will need to manually set these (or other shortcuts as you see convenient) from the keyboard customisation dialog.

Regards
Shrinivas
