RG Universe transitions broken

PostMon Sep 02, 2019 11:28 pm

Using 16.1 beta 2 on Windows 10, I've noticed OFX transitions in Red Giant's universe are not behaving like they should.
For example, the swish pan only creates a flat nasty static blur and doesn't actually animate like it did in version 15 and Premiere Pro. Video effects from the suite still seem to work normal, but the transitions remain static and do not actually transition.

These are super handy for some quick transitions, and there's some projects I've relied heavily on them...so this is a major problem for me!

I just tried re-installing Universe, and though Resolve did reload them, nothing changed.

This is a bug in the beta releases of Ver 16, including the newest version 16.2. Try rolling back to the official release of Resolve 16 and the Universe plugins should work.

Good to know. If I've been working in 16.1 beta 2, can I roll back mid-project to 16.0 release and continue working?

From my experience, yes. Just as long as you maintain the database in its original location, all the projects should be online when Resolve is re-launched.

As a good rule of thumb you should probably export any important projects (only project files are necessary, not media) to a secure drive prior to uninstalling 16.2, just in case. Better to be safe than sorry!

Universe effects should begin working as normal. If they are not seen by the re-installation of Resolve, just make sure the OFX files are all where they should be or simply reinstall through Red Giant Link.

UPDATE: The beta v.3 of Resolve 16 seems to have corrected this issue. Universe effects are now working properly.
