Collect files in from fusion? media management archive

PostTue Nov 21, 2023 1:47 am

Please make it so that when we collect files for archive. It also collects fusion files. I want to archive lot's of projects but Can't because fusion will not collect them for me. And relinking old projects is a literal nightmare. Please find a solution for this.

Can you provide more information?
What version of Resolve are you running?
How are you importing the media into your project, IE via the Media page, or dragging into the Fusion Page?
What kind of files are not archiving for you?

In 18.6.3, all files you bring into Fusion are added to the Media Pool and are archived with a DRA, whether it's video footage, stills, USD assets and materials, FBX models etc.

I confirme that
And with resolve 18.6 there is a media pool Option to delete "unused media" that take account that all media in all fusion comp .... not like the "usage" column

Really. I have not tried 18.6.3

I want to Archive my project, I want to collect both all my media in my timeline, but also all media from fusion clips.

Are you saying that If I remove all "unsued media" from media pool and archive it will archive all media both in timeline and in fusion clips in my timelines? If so that is great going to test it out right now.

BRB to report...

This works with some BIG caveats.

1. in order to collect all your files you must only have the timeline you want to archive in your project.
2. when you use the "delete unsued media" it will open everytimeline you have in order to check what media you are using in it. Thus why #1 you have to only have the timeline/s you want to archive in your project. Sometimes I have a bunch of timelines i "TRY" stuff on I want to archive but dont need the footage associated with them. so this is something to keep in mind.
3. When you archive project it will create an exact folder structure as it is currently. This is an issue when you have services like "box" or "one drive" where the folder that may contain your media in might be deep down a folder tree, with odd names.

I wish this was cleaner. @blackmagic please if possible.

1. Make it so that you can archive only selected timelines and collect only media for said timeslines.
2. Make the folder structure simple, audio, video, images... something like this. Simple

3. Thank you for an awesome piece of software.

What about :
Duplicate your project
Delete unwanted timelines from "timeline" smart bin
Delete unused media
Archive the project

You still need to work while BlackMagicDesign may implement your wish ;)

I think this is a good workflow for now.
Not perfect but good.
In Adobe what I do is a two step process.

1. Premiere pro / Collect files.
2. Hopefully I only used 1 AE project in my premiere project. If so I have to media manage that too. If I used more then 1 AE project in my premiere project I have to collect files for each AE project. Then importing is a pain.

So in reality this is in par with Adobe, perhaps a little better.

But still please @blackmagic make it so that collecting files for individual timelines, or fusion files to be super easy please!!!

sometimes I just want to send a college a project and I just need him to have one timeline or one fusion clip. This would facilitate it.
