UI Bugs with Windows 10 Dual Monitor Fusion Setup

PostTue Sep 10, 2024 11:57 pm

If there is anyone else out there Running Fusion (V16-19) on Windows with Dual UHD Displays I am wondering if you can you please test something for me. Try setting in Fusion preferences 'User Interface' and then 'UI Scale' to 150%. Then with Fusion fully covering both monitors try right clicking for the context menu pop ups on both sides (In Views, Nodes and Inspector) and see if this is working as expected? When I do this one monitor will not display the popups in the correct place or at all sometimes. I have had this bug for about 3 years on various different Motherboard, CPU, NVidia GPU combos (Same 2 Dell monitors) and am sure this is a UI issue as it works OK when 'UI Scale' is set to 100% but I would like to know if this happens in general to others or it is just me? Any help appreciated.

This happened to me as well. Dual 4ks. They were the ProArts from Asus. It would happen if I had different scales set in any of my four monitors. The 4ks were set to 150% and I had two HDs. One preview monitor on a wall and the other was vertical beside the 4ks that were set to 100%.

It's a Windows thing. It happened in 3ds Max as well as Fusion. The menus would appear on the main monitor no matter where it was located. Also happened in Maya.

I don't think there's anything Black magic can do about it.

Thanks for your response Ben, I'm not so sure that this ones a Windows issue as all my other Apps are working fine. Both the monitors are set to UHD 100% scale in Windows, its only inside Fusion preferences that the Scale is set to 150% (For the Fusion UI).

Confirmed. On my main (center) UHD screen, the context menu appears offset. On my right-hand UHD screen, the context menu appears under the mouse. If I attempt to stretch Fusion onto my left-hand HD screen, the context menu also appears offset. Of course, there's no sense in doing that last bit, but I wanted to be thorough. :D

Houdini does not do this, so even if it's a Windows-caused issue, it's apparently not an unsolvable one.

Thanks Bryan, i will raise this with BMD again, my major problem is sometimes it just doesn't even show the menu at all (usually in the inspector) which has been making my life a misery, though it works in a single monitor ok.

You're right, I never did notice it in Houdini. Though, Houdini is such a tightly run ship that if there was some legacy issue that is a remnant from an old way of creating the interface, I'm sure SideFX modernized it.

The one that drove me crazy was 3DS Max and like Fusion, has code dating back to the last century. Maybe BM can track it down?

I use three monitors now. Two QHDs and one HD. They all set to 100% and haven't seen the menu jumping. Did you every see it in Resolve as well?

Fusion's UI had an overhaul fairly recently, so I don't think the blame should be laid on legacy code. I actually wish it were still using the ancient UI because we lost so much in the update. But let's not get me singing that song again!

Not a day goes by in Fusion that I don't think of Fu9.

I have this issue with support who are having trouble replicating the problem stated in the Original Post above. Is there anyone else out there with dual 4k monitors who is able to get this working or having the same problem with the Fusion Scaling set to 150%? Any help would be much appreciated.
