CSV database of names and titles to create lower-3rd batch

PostThu Mar 17, 2022 10:41 pm

Hi,
Is there a way to automate the creation of multiple lower-thrirds medias using a fusion comp and a database of names and titles encapsulated in a csv or excel sheet?

Hi,
I have a modified version of the old eyeon CSV Batch script file. I tested on Fusion18.1 beta on Windows 10. I assume this is what you mean. I tried to attach some files but those extensions where rejected. So not sure what I need to do be able submit them. I understand the security reasons why.

Tim if this is still kicking around, i'd like to try out your script.
Perhaps a zip file, or simply pasting the script text as a reply would work better?

Perhaps, look into VonkUltra Nodes

The Vonk workflow looks quite powerful, but extremely complicated at the same time.
And i'm honestly not really sure how to use it. If i call it up in fusion, it get a couple of nodes, but i'm not sure what the workflow is.
I currently have a script that does all the building of the comps, i am just having trouble getting it to save each render under a different file name. Currently they all save under what ever is listed in the filename box of Fusion. I'm looking for a way of either incrementing this automatically, or using the comp name it creates as the file save name.

I feel the same way, since I'm still learning it myself. If you can, reach out to Andrew Hazelden for assistance, or try to see if one of his many example comps in the link I provided is what you need or close to it, and reverse engineer it. So far I've used it mainly with text. Where you connect to... from text field of text+ node to vonk ultra date generator or something like that. Or all caps node etc. Works really well, but I agree its not easy to learn if you don't know what to watch out for. I'm still learning myself. But when I get more time I'll surly invest more time into it, since as you said, its very very powerful indeed.

I'm looking for a way of either incrementing this automatically, or using the comp name it creates as the file save name.

If you already have a script that builds all the comps, then you're almost there. I think there are a couple of scripting examples over at the WSL forum at www.steakunderwater.com that take the comp name and use it as a file name. That shouldn't be too hard. I think in Reactor there are some batch scripts that allow for something similar. It's not my expertise, but I know it's there.

Here's a script you can take a look at. It does at least partially what you're looking for.

Have you had a chance to take a look of Andrew's example of Vonk Spreadsheet

"Here's an example comp I put together that uses Fusion Studio + Fusion Render Node to dynamically create motion graphics titles driven by an external CSV formatted spreadsheet.

The comma separated values from the text file drive the media loading, the onscreen caption text and number counter element creation, the file saving, and the batch rendering task."

Thanks for the replys.

I did look at the Easysaver script. It works great within the comp, but is a bit more of a manual function. I'm trying to figure out if i can use part of it and place it in my existing script.

I'm in contact with Andrew right now, so hopefully with his guidance i can figure out a method for Vonk to do what i'm trying to achieve.
