How to mask a spline

PostWed Mar 26, 2025 6:14 pm

I am trying to create a two tone outline but part of it is being masked by a polygons so it doesn't show. I created a copy of the planar transform for the polygon. This is the closet I came to getting it to work but the polygon tracks but for some reason moves and doesn't track correctly when connected in the rest of the node tree. Can someone help me figure out the best way to accomplish what I'm trying to do?

Why not post the actual code or screenshot of how it looks. Instead of just nodes with nothing to show how it looks or how it should look. Its hard to visualize what is actually happening... or not happening.

From your node set up it seems polygon is masking the merge operation but I have no way of knowing what the mask actually is or what is supposed to do.

When you apply mask, blue input to merge node, it will mask out the foreground input. Probably in your case it only masks out one of the outlines. To apply it to both you need another node after merge node to apply mask to. For example Matte Control.

For a first guess, your Polygon1 frame size does not match the frame size that you tracked. if that is the case, go to the Image tab of the Polygon1, select Custom and set the Width and Height to the size of the frame that was tracked. It will likely mess up your mask, you really need to set the size before drawing the mask or have it plugged into the tracked frame.
