Transform or similar for Multimerge

PostMon Apr 28, 2025 2:11 pm

Hi guys, I am struggling to find a way to adjust all layers from a multimerge node at once. Additional merge, transform or multimerge nodes are failing for me. What I'm looking to do is very basic. I would like to simply resize or reposition all layers to take them out of frame without having to adjust and keyframe each layer. I would appreciate any help. Thanks so much!

This is why we don't use MultiMerge. This would be trivial with a Merge.

Hi Chad, thank you for your reply. I could certainly do this with multiple merges, but then I would lose the keyframable layer ordering benefit of multimerge.

Is it not possible to apply basic global changes to multimerge? It would seem odd to need to make the same change to six different layers as opposed to being able to change one setting in a subsequent node but possibly this is not an option.

Usually this is done by using flow which allows for such things. Multi merge tends to be good for connecting bunch of similar nodes to one place for grouping and less good for actual animation of these layers or flexibility. As suggested differnt approach would be less problematic.

You could try this this cool script for changing parameters in a batch. Look for my last post in this thread.

If its not working in your current situation you could use it in the future. Other useful scripts include batch auto rename and ability to select nodes and connect them to multi merge at once. I think its called multimerge selected. There should be one for shapes as well.

That being said. I would suggest merge node for flexibility, multi merge for grouping.

Things are getting a bit more complicated since now with Fusion 20 we are getting layers and tools to manage layers on top of layers of nodes in multi merge and similar nodes. I think there are three new tools now for layers, which I haven't even tried yet. Fun times.

Hi, could you give more details on these new tools? I am unaware of them and unable to find them in fusion 20.

I've only seen the release notes, of second beta for version 20.

What's New in Fusion Studio 20 Public Beta 2

• New multi layer tools for Layer Muxer, Layer Remover and Layer Regex.
• New key shortcuts to cycle multi layers with Page Up, Page Down and Home.

I think one is for shuffle of layers around, one is for probably removing and the other might be a way to automate which layers you extract from multi layer source. Based on specified criteria. There is no documentation yet I think so its trial and error and I've not tried it yet myself. Since now all nodes can have layers and these three tools are just added, not sure if more is coming or not. I'll probably wait until more official documentation is out.

Here is some info on the previous beta, or first beta.
