Canon MXF files

PostMon Jun 09, 2025 7:45 pm

Does anyone know if there are any plans to support Canon MXF files (in my case, from a C300 Mark III) in Fusion Studio? It's really annoying that it this footage doesn't load.

BIIIIIG 1+ to get Fusion Studio to support MXF files. Worked on a feature filmed with Canon cameras and it was such a big hassle to need to re-encode everything for VFX instead of just being able to use the raw files.

Windows 10, Fusion 19.x
AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-Core Processor 3.40 GHz
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti
128 GB ram

Have you tried rewrapping the codec to a suitable container? It will not re-encode the video file, just change the container. Shutter Encoder will do it.

I personally did not, for when I inten to ingest one of my Sony MXF file directly into Fusion Studio (meaning not the Resolve VFX Connect way), I transcode it to ProRes...
But I'll try just to know ;) (and to see if an old app I liked is available for ARM)
