Textures to .obj brought in through FBX

PostSat Mar 14, 2015 7:50 am

Dear Fusion Community,

I am running BM Fusion free version. I created a character in DAZ. I then exported as a .obj and opened that character in Sculptris for modifications, paint and texture.

When I imported the .obj from Sculptris into Fusion, all works well regarding the 3D.obj. But when I connect the textures exported from Sculptirs the files do not line up or fill the .obj surface properly. I spoke to a seasoned Fusion artist of 10+ years and he said getting textures to map properly in Fusion has always been hit and miss Maya, 3D Max, Sculptris makes no difference. He recommended Mari but does anyone have any ideas. Any suggestions for 3D charachters?

Or is there a file format more conducive to my interests other than .obj?

We always recommend using FBX when importing objects into Fusion as more data is passed along.

I do know from experience that 3D Coat moves in/out of Fusion while maintaining the UV's, so there is certainly a path to that.

Can you try using FBX export and let me know if that worked out?

I will look into it this weekend. Thanks for the advice. Sorry about the delay.
