Fusion 7 Merge tool clips RGB values

PostTue Dec 08, 2015 5:55 pm

Hello, world! I'm trying to composite 32-bit EXR images with a "Normal" Apply Mode, "Over" operator, as an additive merge with Alpha Gain set to 0. Fusion's Loader tool shows values greater than 1.0, but the Merge tool seems to clip everything at 1.0. Is there a setting I'm missing or is there a reason for the clipping? Thanks!

Welp, turns out I'm just not paying attention to my project settings. Everything was getting clipped because my project preferences were set to 8-bit color depth, so I changed it to 32-bit and life was instantly better.

the background tool always wins.

If your background is 8bit, then your merge is 8bit. Change depth (if that's the case here) of the background image to float32
