Beginner Question - Additive & Screen Blacks merging through

PostThu Feb 11, 2016 5:27 pm

Hey,

Apologies if this is an obvious one, I'm learning fusion coming from AE, and keep running into this problem with blending / merging layers using Normal (additive) or Screen where the blacks from the FG merged layer blend through darkening the BG. Being used to AE Blending modes this is totally confusing me!

Im working with 32bit Tiffs from C4D, trying to add post glows to my renders by replicating the sort of workflow I would use in AE: I take my luma material layer, CC it to isolate the areas I want to glow more, blur that, and then merge onto my background layer either with Screen or Normal (1Additive, 0Alpha Gain and 0Burn In).

I feel like this is an issue with my 32bit workflow, in AE I'd just clamp the levels on my CC, but am lost with this in fusion so any pointers / comments would be much appreciated.

NB: As I'm working for screen delivery I've set my viewers LUT to sRGB, I don't see why this should matter, but without my footage is very very dark and needs loads of brightening...
