Volume fog question

PostThu Aug 25, 2016 5:29 pm

hello,
it's been a long time since i was using the volume fog, and don't remember how to get the noise to animate in it.
can someone remind me of this [or perhaps point me to where this is in the manual?]
i know if the vol fog is using an image sequence it needs the frame range and number of slices to match but noise is different.
thanks,
Au

Each XYZ temporal sample has to be offset by Z. So if you have a 512^3 volume, you increment the noise setting every 512 frames.

HI Chad!
thanks for the reply.
okay you can't mean the seethe rate, so do you mean the Z transform axis needs to be animated?

Depends where your noise is coming from. FN and 3FN are 3D, not 4D.

EDIT: Like if you had a Darktree or some other 4D noise you exported from another application, or if you used particles to make your own 4D noise or used CustomShader or a Fuse to make a 4D noise... there's a lot of options, just depends on what you want to make.
