imported OBJ and DAE files texture issues

PostMon Sep 05, 2016 5:55 pm

I hope I can explain this so it makes sense. I downloaded a collada file from the sketch-up free model site. The DAE file through multiple errors when imported. So I imported it into blender and exported as an OBJ and textures.

I can import the obj and I get no errors, viewing the model and again, it looks exactly as it should. However if I press the HiQ or Prx buttons the model looses some of the textures. It I continue to press those buttons the model will loose other textures and the ones that were gone may reappear. This happens if I press just the HiQ button with or wirthout the Prx being on. Here are some screen shots showing the error:

If I continue to press the HiQ button, eventually I get it right again, and once it is right it will stay that way unless I press the Prx button or HiQ buttons. Am I just doing something wrong? Oh, this happens on any model I get from the sketch-up 3d model page. The behavior does not happen with other models (like the Video Copilot model packs)

[EDIT]
To follow up, I have tried multiple other models form multiple sites and they all work perfectly. The problem seems to be linked to the colada version of Sketch-up models as I have tried other colada (DAE) from other sites and they all seem to work fine.

Short term solution, don't get my models from sketch-up. But I would like to know why they are different, and why the OBJ's created from them are different.

Thanks!
