Fusion 8.2 crashes when adding Loader node

PostFri Dec 23, 2016 10:41 am

Hi

I just installed Fusion 8.2 free version, and it opened correctly. But when I added a loader node, it hung, so I had to shut it down in the task manager. Then I reopened the program and tried other nodes, they all worked fine. I doubt if this problem has something to do with the windows update, since I have shut it down for quite some time.

Could anyone give me a solution?

My spec:
Windows 7 64-bit
12GB RAM
i5-4210
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M

I have experienced a long delay in the loader/saver nodes as well but we have not been able to pinpoint the problem.

Can you try waiting for the loader instead of crashing out fusion? I get the same effect where it opens perfectly on the 2nd attempt.

Hopefully we can find a root cause for this, but deleting my prefs file did the trick (over and over )

Can it be that there are mapped network drives in Windows that don't exist anymore? Saved favorites in fusion which don't exist anymore? A external hard drive that is in sleep mode?

I have a couple of internal drives that go into sleep mode after about 20 minutes or so. This results in very slow Windows Explorer windows, so maybe it results in slower Fusion loaders as well?

I guess so
I would think that the file chooser dialog waits for the response of the OS and appears after that.
For an already created loader fusion has to wait for the hdd to wake up before it can send the request to get some data from it.

In my case it was not network drives. It didn't have any network shares, shared drives, external drives, etc..
Creating a new user solved the problem, so I figured try just removing the prefs and that works each time.

I have experienced the same issue with loader/saver nodes. Fusion 8 just hangs. I am unsure where to delete the prefs as per your suggestion. Do you mean in the installation folder itself or under the preferences menu in Fusion itself, or somewhere else? Thanks in advance.

Okay, I found the prefs file and deleted it. Still no joy, unfortunately.

Any other suggestion? Would really love to play with Fusion, but this makes it a bit of a non-starter.

Thanks in advance.

[EDIT]:- When I start Fusion by "Run as administrator" in Windows 10, everything seems to work fine.
