Loading 3D models into Fusion

PostWed Aug 02, 2017 11:47 pm

Hi,
I'm trying to load some medium sized 3DS, FBX and OBJ files into Fusion but it is taking forever to load the model in. I have Intel 7 icore processor, 32 gigs of ram, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti gpu. Any help?

is it taking forever or not working at all?
For some formats you may need to export the older file versions from the 3D software.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Hey, I dont have a definitive answer for that but how are you importing the mesh into fusion?

Make sure you use the file>import>FBX mesh method.
Depending on how big the mesh is, sometimes it takes a moment to show in Fusion. So give it a reasonable period of time just to make sure time is not the problem here. Just to be completely sure, try a simple geometry like a cube or plane first to see if that can import.
If all that fails, try Alembic mesh, FBX in Fusion is anything but smooth. I hope it was fixed in Fusion 9, I am yet to try it.
