Request: make the SDK widely available

PostThu Dec 02, 2021 8:49 pm

The subject says it all. Please make the SDK widely available. Fusion and the Fusion page in Resolve are getting more and more traction and there are more and more requests coming in on various forums on tips on how to unlock them to their full potential. One way of doing that is by making the SDK more easily available. So I'd like to request it one more time:

please release the SDK!

Yes. Makes no sense to me at all that the SDK is locked behind an NDA, and that developers who are trying to improve Fusion for everyone have to beg to be given it.

Other companies encourage developers to use their SDK - The Foundry, Adobe, etc. And have a huge number of third party tools as a result.

Fuses are great, but sometimes you need the performance of native code.

Free the Fusion SDK!

In fact, every BMD product other than Fusion also has an unencumbered SDK and ample support for their use. So it's not a general corporate policy, as far as I can tell. I'll grant that most of those other kits are for hardware.

Can't agree more. Public SDK means more developers, more tools, more Fusion/Resolve user base and customers, this is a win-win ;)

You know they're being serious when they change Rich Text properties to restate the request.

Yes please!
It would allow us to finally openly discuss how to improve our current projects and even co-create a lot of stuff like the community does currently with macros and fuses.
We know there is the OpenFX part but there are a bunch of stuff missing that the SDK does, like particles, codecs, renderings, 3D etc!

Windows 10, Fusion 18.x
AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-Core Processor 3.40 GHz
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti
128 GB ram
