Fusion Title+ and blackout in Edit timeline.

PostSun Dec 05, 2021 8:19 am

I am working on learning Resolve 17.2.2 and have beed following the Fusion Title Template from page 169 of "The Visual Effects Guide to Da Vinci Resolve 17" pdf, which I like a lot.
Thanks for making this available.

I have followed through this carefully several times and it functions correctly as stated in the tutorial like it should.
Comparing node trees from the pdf to my Resolve seem identical.

My problem is that the fusion Title+, once dragged to the Edit tab timeline on V2 track above footage on V1 track, causes a blackout of the that footage when ever the playhead is over the Title+ element on the Edit Timeline.
Its like the Fusion Title is not updating or rendering successfully, but I'm not sure.
I have attached 3 screen shots to illustrate what I'm seeing.

Thanks for any thoughts.

You've got MediaOut connected incorrectly. The output of Merge2 should be going into the yellow input of MediaOut. Instead, you've got the output of MediaOut going into the blue (mask) input of Merge2.

Disconnect the pipe between MediaOut and Merge2, then drag a connection from the output of Merge2 into the yellow input of MediaOut.

As a tip: when working on your comp, periodically put MediaOut in one of the viewers to check the image Fusion is passing to Edit and Color. In this instance, doing that would have shown nothing, indicating there was a problem with the MediaOut connection.
