adding clip as background of the main clip

PostSun Jun 26, 2022 4:38 pm

how can we add a clip or graphic or image as a background to the main clip in fusion? For example, I have the clip as you can see in the attachment I have a clip, and whenever I use the merge node to add something, it will add on top of it but how can we add below the clip?

If you merge something with a Merge node, you can right-click the Merge node and choose Swap Inputs, or you can select the Merge node and press Ctrl+T which is the shortcut for the same operation.

Since version 18 there's also an 'under' mode in the merge. You can find it under the 'operator' drop-down menu.

And in case someone wonders why double the functionality that can be achieved with swapping inputs, reverse modes change which input is active when node is disabled (fg or bg) which is useful depending on situation.

It also lets you manage the image format from the 'top' image (yellow input). The downside is that labeling the yellow input as Background while Merge is in Under mode is now confusing.
