Fusion standalone install issue

PostThu Jan 26, 2023 8:21 pm

Running 18.1 beta and tried updating to 18.1.2. In the middle of the install process it asks for a path to the 18.1 installer. I don't have this installer any longer nor can I get if from the Support page (link is expired or broken). Aborted the install and tried to uninstall 18.1 thinking I could just do a fresh install. Well even the uninstaller is asking for the path to 18.1, so I can't even finish that process. As of now I'm stuck with Fusion 18.1 that I can neither update nor uninstall.

Additional info: The 18.1 version I have has the "Public Beta" tag that seems to have been an incorrect release from BM but I can't fix the damn thing because the link for 18.1 on BM's own support page says this:

Not a great look for BM.

Once again I am unable to install any updates, uninstall completely or even revert to an older version due to this error. I'm literally stuck at 18.1.

I would delete or maybe safer move/rename the Fusion folder from the Programs folder and then run a registry cleaner like the one in CCleaner. Then install the latest Fusion.

Tried that. The issue still exists.

Update: BM fixed the installer link for 18.1

So I download that, run CCleaner, and then when I try to install I get the same damn error on the 18.1 installer!!

This is like a bad comedy sketch. The 18.1 installer is saying that it's not a valid 18.1 installer :D

Maybe God is trying to tell me something...

Well I finally managed to get Fusion 17 installed without issue.

At this point it seems that 18 is a lost cause because despite everything I've tried, there's still some trace of the 18.1 'public beta' release in my system and it's causing every other Fusion 18 installer to fail. I've tried CCleaner, JV16, and manually deleting folders with no effect.

Hopefully the inevitable Fusion 19 will be installable again.
