HitFilm (FXHome) Ignite and Red Giant Universe

PostMon Oct 07, 2019 2:07 am

Has anyone tried them in either the Fusion Page in Resolve 16 (or 16.1 Beta), or in stand alone Fusion 16? I was hoping that with the integration of Fusion and Resolve, some of these might now work.

Also, has anyone found any other plug-ins that did not work in Fusion 9 that now work in Fusion 16?

It would be great to put together a good list for people.

I answered this over on WSL as well, but for the sake of those who don't read both forums:

Ignite works in Resolve's Fusion tab, but not in Fusion standalone. I haven't tested any Red Giant products.

The unsupported plug-ins will cause a pop-up when Fusion starts up, which will likely interfere with a render manager if you attempt to put the plug-ins on a farm. But at least they don't prevent Fusion from starting, as some OFX plug-ins do.

I believe that there must be a whitelist of approved hosts in the plug-in, and if the publisher can be persuaded to add Fusion to that list, they should work, as there is evidently no incompatibility. Which is to say, the onus is on FXHome and Red Giant to test and approve Fusion as a new host.

Over at Hitfilm (forums) I posted the steps to at least tell Fusion Standalone not to load the Ignite plugins...

I haven't tried more recent versions of Ignite.
