Fusion 16 W/ Deadline

Has anyone had success utilizing Deadline for redner management with Fusion 16? It seems to be quite a mess. Deadline doesnt officially support Fusion 16 but the guys at thinkbox scripted it in for me. Ultimately, after getting through a bunch of errors (on Fusion's side), Deadline wants (or works best with) a command line renderer it seems, which makes sense. Command line rendereing was removed from Fusion 16? Is that correct???

Has anyone had any luck with Fusion 16 and Deadline? Or am I trying to fit a square peg into a round hole?

Command-line rendering is available through the "Fusion Render Node" program that is included with the Fusion Studio download.

If you installed the Fusion Render Node program on your system, you will find the executable located in one of the following locations:

Windows
C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\Fusion Render Node 16\FusionRenderNode.exe

Linux
/opt/BlackmagicDesign/FusionRenderNode16/FusionRenderNode

macOS
/Applications/Blackmagic Fusion 16 Render Node/Fusion Render Node.app/Contents/MacOS/Fusion Render Node

Note: If you have a Resolve Studio dongle, it does not currently support unlocking the licensing mechanism of Fusion Studio v16.x Render Node clients. An actual Fusion Studio dongle is needed for licensing (at the moment) if you want to use Fusion Render node clients on your local network subnet.

Fusion Render Node CLI Syntax
The Fusion Render Node program in Fusion v9-16.1.1 supports the following direct command-line parameters:

Code: Select all
Fusion Render Node [<filename.comp> | <filename.dfq>] [/quiet] [/render [/frames <frameset>] [/start <frame>] [/end <frame>] [/step <step>] [/quit]] [/listen] [/join <host>] [/log <filename>] [/cleanlog] [/verbose] [/quietlicense] [/version] [/pri high|above|normal|below|idle] [/args [...]]

Note: IIRC on macOS and Linux systems each of the CLI parameter flags are specified with dashes instead of slashes like the Windows client expects.

IMHO the Steakunderwater forum is likely a better venue for these types of detailed technical questions since that is where the comp/pipeline technical director type of Fusion users tend to hang out. ;)

I started down the path of Fusion/Deadline but decided to use the native network rendering manager instead. It was a lot easier and works well.
