Cant render our fusion animation in alpha

PostSun Mar 29, 2020 8:16 pm

Hey everyone,

I made a Fusion animation and the background in Fusion is ALPHA. Weird thing is that when I go back to the Edit page, the animation shows but on a BLACK background. I need to render this animation ONLY as the clip itself. Nothing else. But the black background gets in the way on the Edit page and I can't get rid of it. Why does that have to be shown in the final render when the whole Fusion animation clearly has an Alpha background?? Please see images below:

As you can see, the Fusion page shows the Alpha background. But I need this animation rendered in Alpha.

Please can someone help me with this.

Thanks in advance.

Try deleting the media out node and bring in a fresh new media out node.
Sometimes I see a similar glitch in the program on my end too.

(but I will go ahead and recreate your node flow and see what I come up with)

Hey Khaleeq
So I recreated your comp, based on the nodes I could see in your reference. And here's how I would create it. I am sure there's many ways to do this, but this is just my personal approach.
When creating a title comp, I would pipe a transparent BG node in the background, and attach the text on top of it, all going into the media out node. Transparent being black and alpha value of 1 of course.
See if this helps you.

Sadi

Thanks for your reply. I'm a little confused as to what you're doing. Oh btw, I'm still using DR15 so I don't have the Adjustment Clip feature. I followed your steps but I still the black BG on the edit page and of course, if i render it out, the black BG WILL appear in the final render which is annoying. Please see again below:

On the Edit page, alpha appears as black unless you have a video track underneath it, then you can see that it is transparent, there is no checkerboard background for transparency in the Edit page.

Yes, but can you render out the text by itself so that it has an alpha background?
I can't even render out my Fusion comp with an alpha background. It just shows with the black BG and the Fusion animation over it.

All the info you need is in the answers above. If it isn't working, you will have to provide a step by step of what you're doing, because 'I've been trying to figure it out' doesn't help us in figuring out what goes wrong in your specific case.

Maybe add a saver node to the The end of the fusion comp pipeline and render from there to the file you want?

Hey
First try the Chis option above : you can add legacy saver nodes to your comp to export right from the fu tab, avoiding any edit interference...
You may also try to check the clip attributes of your clips, and particularly the alpha parameters...
At least, you may want to add an alpha output by right-clicking the BF of the node flow in the color page...

Hey,

I don't know what solution you found (too long video for a minor issue) and therefore what you personal issue was, but for the sake of the thread and other users who may come here, you could have explained what you did wrong and how you fixed it ;)

I personally don't have issues like that, I must have seen it once or twice in years, and I export in Prores 4444 anyway.
Have a good day anyway ;)

Hey,
This is what chris said, and what I said too : create a saver node, even another than the MediaOut one (look for "saver" among the tools) and pipe anything in, then find "render all savers" in the menu, and done...
