Move solid objects in a video

Hi.
I would like to drop a vase in my project. It's supposed to look like its falling off the table because someone ran into it. So how can I get a fixed object to move and restore the visible space behind it? Thank you in advance!

PS: The vase should only fall out of the image, so the impact does not need to be animated.

Hi, welcome to the forum.
The basic approach is taking a still from the footage with the vase. Use for example a matte control tool with a polyline garbage mask to cut out the vase (like you'd do in Photoshop), then create a patch that covers the background where your vase is in the frame with either the paint tool or a merge with offset from the original footage and cover up the vase.

Then use a transform tool to animate the vase, but it will always be a cut out in this way.
If you'd knock over a real vase you'd see a subtle or not so subtle 3D effect, because of the way it falls over. You could simulate this partly by creating a 3D stand in with the vase texture projected on it, but that's a bit more work to get it right. But this is the basic setup for doing stuff like this.
