Creating a Spherical Layer

PostSat Mar 13, 2021 6:52 pm

Hi,

I want to create a globe with a layer of clouds around it.

The globe is simple, I just use a Shape3D node as Sphere and put an Image as Material Input on it.

Creating the spherical layer of clouds around it, though, is more tricky:

Whilst I can create another Sphere with clouds inside it, I now am looking for a way to make it hollow so that clouds are only generated at a certain altitude away from the earth (globe sphere).

Thanks for your help,
Nicolas

Here’s a video on how to make a 3D Earth, then add a cloud layer that can be animated in Fusion.

Hello,

for everyone reading this later with the same challenge - I think I figured it out:

Use a Sphere as Shape3D as MeshInput On the pEmitter node. Then change the Region to Mesh and Region Type to Surface.
