Subdivions of Image Plane 3D

PostMon Mar 15, 2021 9:58 am

Hi,

I have an image exr with Z Depth, 2200x2200 px. on Image Plane 3D and Displace 3D.

My question is how many subdivisions have I set on Image Plane 3D node- my output resolution is Full HD (1920/1080)?

I want to have full quality of 1920/1080. Should I set subdivisions to 2200x2200 (for each pixel one subdivision) or 1920x1080 or can I set lower parameter?

I have only 2 GB of viedeo RAM and It's hard task for my Mac

If you want pixel-perfect accuracy, then it should be 2199 x 2199 (you start with one poly, so the first subdiv makes two, and so on).

It may not be necessary to go that high, though, depending on your geometry. If you don't have any details that need to resolve to a single pixel, you might be able to reduce the subdivs without affecting quality too much. I usually set it to the highest value necessary, then reduce it until I start to see artifacts, then raise it a little higher than that.
