Feature Request Keybord shortcut for Timeline Navigation

PostThu May 06, 2021 10:01 am

Dear Fusion Development Team,

in Davinci Resolve 16 and Fusion 16 there was the posibilty to navigate Frame by Frame using the Arrow Keys. Which was very handy when we where doing Rotoscoping and Masking.

In Fusion 17 pressing the Arrowkeys are moving the Mask on a Pixel level, which is nice for granular work.
But now the Rotoscoping is taking tripple the Time because now we need to click off into the Node area or the Timeline to navigate the Timeline.

I get alot of comments on my Youtube Channel and I have spoke to alot of people (Compositors and Davinci Beginners alike) and this is really bugging all of them because before the workflow was more straight forward.

Is there a way to customize Keyboard Shortcuts for timeline navigation?

Maybe i am just missing some Adjustment in the Settings

You can customize them in Fusion Studio. They're called Step forward and step backwards, found in the "Time" subsection.
You need to be careful on which context you want to apply them, most likely everywhere.

But you're still out of luck when you have to use Fusion 17 because when you want to nudge a frame forwards/backwards while animating something, shortcuts won't work.
If you can go back to a previous version then that's your best bet.

[ and ] are the step forward and backward hotkeys in Fusion.

edit: Just noticed that .de top-level domain. If you're using a German keyboard, then those keys won't exist. I know there have been some people who have solved that one, but I don't have a thread handy right at the moment. I'm sure a little searching here or at We Suck Less (https://www.steakunderwater.com) will turn it up.
