Paint tool offset expression.

PostThu May 06, 2021 1:15 pm

I'm trying to add an expression to the position offset of the paint tool, I really just want too pick whip it to the position of another node. When I right click on add expression, no field appears but if I right click again there is a remove expression option. Is this normal or is the fault located between my desk and chair?

The apply offset I should have added and I was in stroke mode and clone.

The presence of the Offset control in the tool's Inspector is a convenience, but it's not the "real" control. Try switching over to the Modifiers and set your expression there.

However, the UI's been degraded such that even if you make a floating frame and put the Tools view in there while the Modifiers are open in the main Inspector, you can't pick-whip between the two panels. So I'm afraid you'll have to type the expression.

Thanks for the tip, when something like that occurs I'm like Homer Simpson reaching for the cans of beer hanging on the power line. I created another tool, pick whipped the setting into that and copied that into the paint modifiers.

Hmmm... A much simpler and faster solution than my elaborate (and fruitless) extra panel approach!
