Fusion Blend mode question (new user)

Hi all,

I'm extremely new to Fusion and have a quick question about a very simple effect I can't seem to achieve.

Because my terminology is so bad being less than 24 hours into fusion usage and the issue may be a user error, I've created a quick screen recording of the question as I thought it will be easier.

Your merge node does not merge your red box with background, but with empty input, so it can’t multiply with the underlying clip as you think it would. For this to work you need to get your clip into Fusion comp with MediaIn node, and connect it to your merge as background input. It should work either by creating a fusion comp from your footage (don’t drag the fusion comp over but simply go to fusion page) or by creating an adjustment clip (which should also have mediain node).
