Text3D with outline added?

Hello,

trying to do my first things in Fusion with DR 17.3.1 - what an environment!

I see that while Text+ has lots of possibilities about text outline using shaders the same does not apply to Text3D+ - only one shader and no outline available.

What's the best and most effective way to achieve it? I tried with extrusion but it's quite not exactly the same.

Any suggestion is welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Mario

Text 3D is just that: 3D. How would an outline work for you? Would you like extra geometry to encapsulate the text? Would you like it to be a post effect? What are you looking for?

Ok, let's call it border instead of outline, then.

In HitFilm I can have a 2d text with outline and then have it extruded in 3d.

Is there something similar available in DR?

Or, in alternative, can I 3d-ize a text+ object and overlay it (parenting the position so that they move together) with a real Text3D object?

What am I looking for? A 3d extruded text with outline.

Here is a rough example, just to give the idea.

Fusion doesn't seem to have the ability to simply extrude Text+ or 2D images.
But...
can I 3d-ize a text+ object and overlay it (parenting the position so that they move together) with a real Text3D object?

You can do that by connecting the Text+ to the ImagePlane3D and overlaying it on the Text+3D.
The trick is to place them just a little bit apart, because if you put them too close together, the rendering will break.

Or, if your PC is Windows and you are using the Studio version, the Krokodove plug-in may also be useful.

Here's a short tutorial on the subject. He does logos and images, but same would apply to the output of a Text+.
