Occasional Viewer Freezes in F 17.3/ Apple M1

PostFri Sep 10, 2021 12:03 pm

Hey there,

I noticed something which I can only describe as a viewer freeze. One of the two viewers will occasionally remain blank (i.e. dark grey), and won't react or display anything. The program doesn't crash, but isn't really useful either when this happens.

Restarting Fusion fixes things.

Has that happened to anyone else?

I am running Big Sur 11.5.2 on M1.

Cheers, Marin

Only one viewer freezes? The other still works?

That's not a condition I've ever seen before. If both viewers freeze, then it's likely a locked comp, which can happen when certain scripts fail to terminate properly. You can test for that by trying to add a Loader node—if the comp is locked, the file browser won't appear. This condition can usually be cleared with the command comp:Unlock() in the Console, or the Unlock Comp script newly released in Reactor.

Thanks, Bryan, I'll try what You suggested if it happens again.
