I know that this question has already been asked, but I can't find any solution in the previous threads so here I am.

I can't access the edit folder in the template folder.

I'm on Windows 10 and neither of these routes lead me where I want...

- All users: C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Fusion\Templates\Edit\


- Specific user: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Templates\Edit\

*"Le dossier est vide." means that the folder is empty

Also, I JUST upgrade to the 17.3.1 version this morning and nothing changed.

A recent version of Resolve added support for Template bundles. So instead of the templates being loose files in a folder structure, they can now be grouped together in a DRFX bundle, which is what you're seeing there - Templates.DRFX

A DRFX file is just a renamed ZIP file.

So, if you want to access individual files within the bundle:

1. Copy that DRFX to some accessible location, eg Documents.
2. Rename the copy to change its extension to ZIP.
3. Unzip it.
4. You now have all the folders and files in the structure you're used to, and can use some as the basis for your own templates if you want.

Steps 1 and 2 are likely optional - if you open an archiver like WinRar and drag in Templates.DRFX, it should recognise it as a ZIP file and give you the option to extract it.

You could if you wanted remove the Templates.drfx and replace it with the unzipped contents, which would allow editing existing templates in-place. I wouldn't recommend that though - better to leave the DRFX in place and make a new version of whatever template you want under a new name, which you'd put in your specific user folder like you showed in your second screenshot.

By the way, I checked in a brand new DR 17.3.1 install on Windows and I don't have anything in C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Fusion\Templates.

For me the default templates are distributed with the application itself, in C:\Program Files. And yes, it is possible to just drag the DRFX to WinRar and extract from it in-situ:

I think it's worth saying that if we want to add new templates/macros in fusion, we need to create a folder for them in C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Templates\Edit\. Otherwise, they won't appear anywhere once in DR (as I just tried ).

The simplest solution, you won't believe it!
Navigate to where the folders should be. When you are in Templates, recreate the original folder tree, (add the Edit and Titles back in) move your custom macros in where they were and you're done.

I'm a few years late to this post, but I was experiencing the same issue and this was the only solution that worked for me. So unexpectedly simple!

My problem was that Templates is no longer saved as a folder per say, if you click it, it just launches Davinci. So I just created an 'edit' folder in the same place where I found templates, then I added the macro, and boom. That easy.
